Animal drawings in graphite and linoleum prints


In this two part project students were taken through a series of observational drawing lessons which culminated in drawing an animal of their choice. The studied graphite techniques, value and texture.

Then students chose the same animal to recreate in a linoleum block print. Students were trained in how to use the appropriate tools and techniques to create a block and were guided through printing. They used a method called chine collé, which uses paper to add color to the paper before it is printed.
